What Does This Mean To Us?
This award means a lot to Kat and I because we have been up and running for only three months and are just finding our way in the blogging journey. For Taylor to nominate us means that we are slowly getting our blog and brand out into the blogging community.
The rules for the Blogger Recognition Award are:
– Thank the blogger who nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
– Write a post to show your award
– Give a brief story of How/Why you started blogging
– Give two pieces of advice you would give to brand new bloggers
– Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to
– Comment on each blog letting them know you have nominated them giving the link to the post you have created
Why Did We Start Blogging?
Why did I start blogging? For me, it was a Why Not? moment. I have been following a few bloggers these past few years and was impressed with the information I always received and the way it was presented. The fascination of how much money the bloggers could make coupled with the idea of doing blogging full time intrigued me. Blogging also gave me my joy of writing back and unleashing my creative spirit. In a previous post “Discovering My Niche in a Niche Filled World” I write about what blogging means to me. For Kat to join me was an added bonus. Kat has used the blog to help with her writing, and it’s been a therapeutic way of her finding herself as a woman of 50. Blogging is not an easy or quick way to make money. It’s taken a lot of hard work and perseverance to come this far(and technical skills) in just three months. We have come a long way yet we have more to go before this blog becomes a full-time occupation for the both of us.
Advice for the New Blogger
If you are a brand new blogger, my biggest advice would be not to let yourself get bogged down by feeling overwhelmed. There is a lot to the process of blogging, but remember You are your own Boss. This is your creative endeavor, not anyone else. If you feel the need to step back for a day, a week or a month then do it! You want to enjoy blogging not have it become a chore or a burden.
Next, my advice would be to try to stay organized because having a blog requires a lot of technical skills, writing, promoting and networking. It helps to have an organized system in place. Many bloggers use helpful tools to keep track of their to do lists like Trello or Google Calendar. Others like myself prefer the pen and paper method to keep track of scheduling, writing and promoting. Find an organizational system that works best for you.
Remember why you started your blog and maintain that focus on accomplishing your goal. The blogging journey is filled with ups and downs, but the result will be worth the effort!
Why Is There A Blogger Recognition Award?
I believe this award helps to promote bloggers and all their hard work they put into their blog. It’s a chance to be recognized by not only other bloggers but new readers as well. As a Thank You and acceptance of The Blogger Recognition Award, here are my nominations to whom I pass on the award:
